Comments: A potholder worked with an original stitch and with a ruffled border...ideal for a gift!

Size : 16 cm (6 1/4 ")

Material : Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn ( we call it "Poor Cotton", but a yarn like "Sugar&Cream should be good), color A= Red, B= Dark Yellow, Hook no.4 (US=G/6);you may want to give a look to my virtual store if you need materials.

Stitches : ch, sc,hdc, dc

Difficulty: easy

Directions

Start with A, 22 ch

1. 1 ch, sc in ea ch; 2 ch, turn

2. * sk a sc, sc in next sc, sc in skipped sc;* Repeat * to * along the row; 1 ch, turn; join B

3. sc in ea sc; 2 ch, turn

4.* sk a sc, sc in next sc, sc in skipped sc;* Repeat * to * along the row; 1 ch, turn; join a

5-20. Repeat Rows 3-4, changing color at the end of even rows. To avoid weaving a lot of thread, do not cut yarn when joining the other color, but drop it and take it again after two rows. This will be hidden by the border.

Border

1. A: sc all around making 22 sc on ea horizontal and vertical sides, and 3 sc in ea corner; join B with sl st to first sc

2. B: *(dc, 2 ch, dc) in corner sc, sc in next sc, (hdc, dc, hdc) in next sc* Repeat all around. Cut, weave in ends.

Loop : sc in corner sp, 8 ch, sc in same sp, 1 ch, turn, 8 sc in lp, join with sl st. Cut
