ROSETTE DOILY

Small doily/coaster

This easy doily is very fast to do and very nice looking, and IMHO it is another "must do" for beginner threaders.

Size : 18 cm (7 inches) diameter

Material : Pearl cotton # 5, hook 1.6 mm (Boye steel#7) ; you can substitute with Cebelia #10 or equivalent cordonnet thread (but the gauge can slightly vary)

Stitches : ch, sl st, sc, dc, tr, picot (3 ch, sl st on last st made)

Difficulty: easy-moderate

Directions

Start with 18 ch, join ;

1. 30 dc in lp; join with sl st in first st.
2. *sc, 5 ch, sk 2 dc*;Repeat from * to * 9 times more; join with sl st in first st =>10 lps.
3. sl st in first 5-ch sp, (4 tr, 3 ch, 4 tr) in sp, 1 ch, *(4 tr, 3 ch, 4 tr) in next sp, 1 ch*;Repeat from * to * 8 times more; join with sl st in first st .
4. *sc in next 1-ch sp, (4 tr, 4 ch, 4 tr) in next 3-ch sp*;Repeat from * to * 9 times more; join with sl st in first st .
5. sl st in first 4-ch sp, *sc in sp, 13 ch*;Repeat from * to * 9 times more; join with sl st in first st .
6. sl st in sp, 16 dc in each 13-ch space; join with sl st in first st =>160 dc.
7. *sc in next dc, 9 ch, sk 7 dc*;Repeat from * to * 19 times more; join with sl st in first st =>20 lps.
8. sl st in sp, *(4 tr, 3 ch, 4 tr) in sp, 1 ch*;Repeat from * to * 19 times more; join with sl st in first st.
9. sl st to first sp, *4 tr, picot, 4 tr) in 3-ch sp, sc in 1-ch sp*;Repeat from * to * 19 times more; join with sl st in first st. cut thread

N.B.

• Always substitute (also if not explicitly said) first st in a row as follows:
• first sc with 1 ch, sc;
• first hdc with 2 ch;
• first dc with 3 ch;
• first tr with 4 ch...and so on
• When you read "sl st to <location>", where the location is not immediately contiguous to last st, this means of course "an appropriate number of sl sts for reaching <location>".
• Also if I do not specify it, if you lasted prev row on a st (say st1), while you must start next row in another st (say st2), make an appropriate number of sl sts to reach st2.
