The sample for this bookmark is crocheted with filet#1

Size : 5 cm (2 inches) x 16 cm (6.5 inches) tassel not included.

Material : Pearl cotton # 12, hook 1.00 mm (Bates steel #12) ; you can substitute with Cebelia #30 or equivalent cordonnet thread (but the gauge can slightly vary)

Difficulty: easy

Directions

Start with 16 ch.

Row 1. Dc in 8th ch from hook (7 chs = 2 ch + dc + 2 ch), * ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch * Repeat * to * twice more: 4 empty squares.

Rows 2-37. Proceed following the diagram. (If the above link does not work, click here)

Use oblique increasing and decreasing technique. At the end of row 37, do not cut thread; crochet the edging

Edge: Sc all around the bookmark (2 sts in each square side). Join in first st, cut thread.

Tassel: Using a 6" cardboard piece, wrap thread 40 times around cardboard. Cut thread on a side of cardboard, and distribute the 40 strands obtained in empty squares in first row. Wrap a thread piece 5 times around tassel, knot and cut. You can braid tassel as the example.
