This is another view, laid on the table

This is a particular of the filet part

Comments: This is the first armchair back I designed, answering to a user request; you can crochet also the armrest covers, making also the filet part and the lower spike . Another idea is to crochet the spikes on all 4 sides, you will have an original doily!

The sample for this doily is crocheted with FILET #1

Size : 18 x13 inches (46 x 33 cm)

Material :Pearl cotton # 5, hook 1.6 mm (Boye steel #7) ; you can substitute with bedspread size thread or equivalent (but the gauge can slightly vary) you may want to give a look to my virtual store if you need materials.

Stitches : ch, sc, dc, picot = (4 ch, sl st in first ch)

Difficulty: easy

Directions

Start with 80 ch.

Row 1.Dc in 8th ch from hook (7 chs = 2 ch + dc + 2 ch), *ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch* Repeat * to * 23 times more: 25 empty squares.

Rows 2-37 . Proceed following the diagram. (If the previous link does not work, click here )

At the end of last row cut thread; crochet the spikes on the vertical sides and on the lower side

Spikes (on vertical sides and lower side):

1.*3 dc in next block, 3 ch, sk a block* Repeat * to * along the side; 5 ch, turn.

2. *3 dc in next 3-ch sp, 3 ch, skip a block* Repeat * to * along the side; 5 ch, turn. You will have obtained a block decrement

Repeat Row 2 until you will have only one 3-dc block. Cut thread

Edge

on the spikes: (5 dc, 1 ch, picot, 1 ch, 5 dc) in ea 5-ch space; on the upper side repeat *(3 dc, picot, 3 dc) in next block, sk a block*. Cut thread

N.B. Substitute first dc with 3 ch; for a filet primer, with increase and decrease explanations, go here
